Sydney graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Madison in 2022 with a Masters Degree in Applied Biotechnology and Undergraduate Degree in Genetics & Genomics.
At the University of Wisconsin, she was a three-time first team All American (5x All-American overall), three-time Big Ten Setter of the Year, UW’s all time leading assist leader, four-time team captain, and led her team to three Big-Ten Championships & the program’s first National Championship.
Since graduating, she has played professionally in Turkey and Puerto Rico. When she’s not playing, she has developed a love and passion for coaching through private lessons and virtual opportunities.
Sydney started playing volleyball when she was 7 years old. Her mom played collegiately and bribed her to try-out for the local club team (Minnesota Select) by offering a new pair of shoes. Sydney made the 12-1s team as a 9-year-old. Sydney fell in love with the sport right away. She was by far the smallest on the team, so the coaches thought she should be the setter. Sydney played for Minnesota Select her entire club career.
Sydney attended Champlin Park High School where she had the opportunity to play Outside Hitter for the first time.
Throughout her middle school and high school years, Sydney was a member of the USA Volleyball Youth teams.
Sydney was someone who was ALWAYS in the gym. She was driven by the opportunity to improve and to be the best.
Sydney’s first professional experience was in Istanbul, Turkey with VakifBank. Sydney filled in temporarily for an injured setter. This team was the best in the world in 2022. Sydney got to play for one of the most respected coaches in the world, Giovanni Guidetti and with Olympians from both Turkey and the U.S.
Sydney’s second and current professional experience is with Las Atenienses in Manati, Puerto Rico. The season is from May-August.
